Dillinger Johnny ... Chicago won me over.

Hi folks. I returned from my vacation. As you can notice I changed my nickname here on the Blog. Ninalee'm the same, but now I use my real name ;) .

I made an inspiring journey. I went to the land where John Dillinger made his name wrong ... lol. I went to Chicago, Illinois, USA. I remembered Dillinger and Johnny for many occasions, in ancient architecture that blends with modern skyscrapers buildings, the homes of Blues and visits to museums. During the release of Public Enemies, Johnny said that Chicago is one of his favorite cities. Since this time I was curious to know the city and the opportunity arose this holiday. So, I'll pass along to you the nostalgic atmosphere that captivated urban Dillinger, Johnny and me too.

Chicago is in the state of Illinois and is the third largest city in the U.S.. It is located near the Great Lakes and the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan. The Chicago River cuts the city is extremely clean and the tourists can enjoy boating throughout the river taking a different view of the city. During the celebration of Saint Patrick's Day, the city dyes the river (which already has crystal green waters) of green and dense, is a unique attraction.

Chicago has a very convenient nickname, they call it the "Windy City" (the windy city). Venta which is a beauty! My curly hair that say at the end of the day I looked like Medusa!! Kkk ... In winter the constant wind is cold and summer is very warm. I picked up 40 degrees every day with wind chill of 43!! The state faces a severe drought this time of year that is affecting crops and harvests.

The city has a very cool green side. There are three huge parks (Chicago is the largest city parks in the country.): Millenium Park, Grand Park and Lincoln Park. They are connected to each other and are filled with structures of works of art.

When we walk the streets of Chicago can feel that this is a city that has excelled in many aspects.

One of these aspects was a great fire that devastated the city in 1871. The buildings at that time were built in wooden base and quickly caught fire due to winds too. Destroyed more than eighteen thousand buildings and over 300 people died. This fire became known as 'The Great Chicago Fire' and served to the city to reerguesse in a planned manner, hiring great architects for the development of new buildings, now modern and bold structure. It was in Chicago that came the first skyscraper in the metal frame. Currently this bold and modern architecture, blends with the old buildings in a very natural and beautiful.

The other aspect was the high crime rate in the city that began in the 20s. The famous gangster Al Capone made his mark in Chicago and came to gross over $ 100 million during Prohibition. Beyond trade in drink, he ran brothels, gambling houses and gambling in the city.

This is where John Dillinger who comes, as we know, was the largest and most popular bank robber during the Great Depression. Dillinger was killed by police in front of the Biograph Theater in the output of a movie. There are controversies about his death and this site including.

Nowadays we can stroll around the city and see the old buildings of this era and imagine it to Chicago at the time of Capone or Dillinger season. There's even a tour called Gangsters' Tour that takes you to the main places where these "bad guys" walked. I did this tour due to lack of time, but went to several of these places.

The city is used as the setting for several films. ' Batman, the Dark Knight Rises' used various buildings from Chicago to represent Gotham City and, of course, much of 'Public Enemies' was filmed there.

Johnny's been several times in Chicago on tour. He loves the famous Steak Houses and of course there should enjoy the musical and cultural life, as blues and jazz are prevalent in the city.
Well, this is us! For anyone who wants to visit the United States I recommend that protrudes slightly out of Miami-New York route, go sightseeing in Chicago and go with the poetic atmosphere of the city and perhaps find a corner ... Johnny Depp is Dillinger or !

I found this video with the music of Sinatra to the Windy City, "My Kind of Town." The video is just to listen and enjoy ... :) .

NOTE: The photos of the city was I who took ... ;) . Others with Johnny's is the Premiere of Public Enemies in Chicago -2009.
